According to the New York Alliance Against Chronic Disease nearly half of all Americans suffer from at least one chronic disease which is often exacerbated by lifestyle choices such as smoking, overeating and lack of exercise. In Canada, chronic diseases are projected to account for 89% of all deaths and accounts for 55% of all direct and indirect health care costs.
