Nomination of Tom Daschle as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)

All – HIMSS has arranged for you to personally add your support for Senator Tom Daschle to be confirmed as the next Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. As you know, this past Tuesday, the 111th Congress was sworn in and legislators are hitting the ground running. Confirmation hearings of the Secretary-Designates have begun, including hearings for Secretary-Designate of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Tom Daschle.


HIMSS has sent formal letters of support to the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee who will both hold hearings on Senator Daschle’s confirmation. The Senate HELP Committee’s hearing is today and then Senate Finance Committee will hold their hearing next. Senate Finance Committee will then send the confirmation recommendation to the full Senate for a floor vote.
