President-elect Obama proposes Electronic Health Records for all Americans in 5 years and 20 Billion dollars Stimulus

In 2004, President Bush recommended that this be accomplished by 2014.

This is a daunting task. New York State has led the way with financial investment and perhaps more importantly by creating an opportunity for all the vested interests to participated and fast track the solutions needed for this to be achieved.
New York City has already recruited 1400 healthcare providers to participate in its Health Information Technology initiative (NYC DOH PCIP).
The 20 Billion dollars proposed from the Federal Government will be appreciated. But its not just about dollars. Its about standards, technical support, changes in health care delivery models and educating Americans about healthy lifestyle choices.

Good luck Mr. President, we support you all the way. SV
