I am very interested in hearing the advances in Electronic Health Records. Some of these services are already in use for physical therapy purposes. EHRs are used in physical therapy to document the progress of the patient. In the instance, images of the body are opened on the screen of this tablet that coincides with the patients physical therapy records. The physical therapist is then able to use the stylus and identify the area which holds the damage. He or she is then able to add a note to the identified area. This information is also accessible on a server for when another physical therapist assists said patient. EHR is making its way into replacing paper medical records. Thank you for this article.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11224526842143130445noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25370992.post-12186204184176705472012-05-16T00:31:19.049-07:002012-05-16T00:31:19.049-07:00Thanks for sharing the information. Which is preferably good on my part. But, what about medicines sold on the streets? Whether legal or not, companies are losing quite a bit of money. And who is who to say that anything let alone can be sold on the streets without the proper consent of the manufacturers, not that they would allow it, but still. Regardless how effective the drug or not, even now a days health care should most definitely be a necessity since without it you might end up paying 8 times the price. I think no matter what medicine people are prescribed, everybody should make it a priority in their lives to obtain some sort of health care.
Medical Spa Position
Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02749114081097587856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25370992.post-20815995743692166812009-06-11T05:34:10.546-07:002009-06-11T05:34:10.546-07:00Sophrona Solutions partners with ASCRS/ASOA to equ...Sophrona Solutions partners with ASCRS/ASOA to equip members with Secure Messaging, a tool for excellence in patient customer service.

Minneapolis, MN (May 21, 2009) -- Sophrona Solutions, the leader in online patient communication solutions for ophthalmology, announces a partnership with ASCRS/ASOA. Sophrona offers clinics and patients the same convenience we have all come to expect with email, but packaged as a specialized application for healthcare practices called Secure Messaging. While email is used to notify patients of a new message, the emails themselves contain no personal health information and only prompt the patient to login to the patient portal to view their message securely. Access through the patient portal makes the communication completely safe and compliant with HIPAA privacy rules. Like email, Secure Messaging allows the patient and practice to engage in conversation on their own timeline. A patient can inquire about a bill without having to hold on the phone or can request a prescription re-fill at midnight. At the same time, clinic staff does not need to respond immediately, but can do so when convenient for them.

For more information on Sophrona and their leading technology, visit www.sophrona.com. Altho I have been using ehr for 12 years now, the program (Easy Psychiatric REcord Keeper) obviously doesn't have erx capability. For yrs I've been printing out rx's, faxing often. DEA proposed regs of 6/28/08define e prescriptions as not including faxed written rx's. Does anyone on this blog know what the defs are for medicare? Looks like I'm gonna have to do a new program. As Will Rogers once said, "Progress used to be a good thing but it's gone on too long..."
I think the incentives suck, but will prolly go along as losing income is not my cup of tea. But of course if we all just ignore the incentives, they'll have to up the ante in '12.
The other thing I take issue with is the belief that erxing will reduce cost and reduce errors. I haven't seen any data on that and see how erxing in my hospital hasn't reduced errors that much. IMHO, the primary source of error is the decisions (or lack thereof) made by MDs, i.e. our own rx behaviors, not what gets produced on paper or electronically.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05473070409384351754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25370992.post-7771274098060958802008-05-16T16:44:00.000-07:002008-05-16T16:44:00.000-07:00Can Medicare clients opt-out of myPHRSC? Security concerns are valid when you are talking about a PHR from your insurance or employer.

They take on even more significance when you begin talking about letting Microsoft and Google hold this information for you. I would even go farther to say that I believe that your personal health data is a new form of currency for the 21st Century and must be treated accordingly.

When you begin talking about PHRs as a stand alone product like the small number of ones actually being created for consumers, what most are selling you is an empty box, like a bank account with no money in it. They leave all the hard work on the consumer to gather the information from less than cooperative providers.

What a real Health 2.0 solution involves is a more than just a pretty box, it is one that contains valuable data regardless of what the consumer contributes. I am the founder and CEO of a 21st Century medical lab in the Midwest called MyMedLab. Our company has created a unique solution for today's informed consumers.

MyMedLab is a result of combining the power of the Internet with more than a decade’s worth of experience privately educating consumer about their health. Our mission has been removing the barriers consumers encounter when attempting to get more involved in their health. We have seen first hand the frustration they encounter when health care “protects” them from their own information.

Our recently redesigned web site at www.mymedlab.com provides consumers direct access to the same diagnostic lab tests once only available to doctors. It allows them to choose from over 20 different Wellness Profiles based specifically on their age, sex and family history.

Once they have chosen the appropriate test package and purchased it online, they visit one of over 2000 participating collection sites across the country at their convenience, without an appointment.

Their test result, when complete, are reviewed by our network physician in their home state and automatically uploaded into their own MyMedLab Personal Health Record (PHR). From inside their private PHR, they can access detailed information about their results including links to the National Library of Medicine.

Initial results create the “baseline data” for future comparison and allow them to track changes in their health over time. Our testing becomes a valuable tool for not only those looking to find potential health problems early but as a way for those with chronic disease like Diabetes and Heart Disease to get directly involved in their care.

The MyMedLab PHR allows consumers to easily share this information, if they chose, with their family doctor by printing them out before they next appointment or faxing their results directly from inside their PHR. Test results belong ONLY to the consumer and NEVER become part of their permanent record UNLESS they provide them. NO THIRD PARTY HAS ACCESS TO THIS INFORMATION.

David Clymer, CEO
MyMedLabMad Scientisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15577309127688136451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25370992.post-51406293176365325642007-12-03T22:55:00.000-08:002007-12-03T22:55:00.000-08:00while the web based applications are nice and cont...while the web based applications are nice and continously updated and save room on the iPhone.it is entirely to slow for fast paced clinical use.
